A Conceptual model of storytelling for image retrieval

Traditional computer-based image retrieval techniques provide several mechanisms to retrieve images. Generally, there are two major approaches being used in image retrieval systems. The first approach is content-based image retrieval which aims to retrieve images based on their visual criteria. This approach typically utilizes visual features, such as color, shape, texture, and layout, to determine “relatedness” or the level of similarity between a set of images. The second approach is text-based image retrieval which tries to retrieve images based on any contextual information associated with the images. This could be, for example, a collateral text surrounding the image, annotations such as keywords and metadata that were manually assigned to the image.
